Steering Committee
A multi-partner steering committee provides guidance and coordination for the trail, representing municipalities, Alberta TrailNet, trail groups and community members.
A Memorandum of Understanding was entered into on October 9, 2024 by and between Municipalities.

Mandate
• Provide strategic direction and coordination for trail planning, construction, signage, and stewardship.
• Champion partnerships and funding to complete gaps (bridges, staging areas, connectors).
• Ensure consistency with regional networks (Trans Canada Trail, River Valley Alliance, Iron Horse Trail, Peace River Trail).
• Uphold responsible trail use, landowner respect, and user safety.

Roles & responsibilities
Project coordination: share timelines, align budgets, and coordinate construction windows.
Infrastructure & signage: confirm design standards for surfaces, bridges, kiosks, and wayfinding.
Funding & recognition: align grants/sponsorships; acknowledge partners and funders.
Engagement: support volunteer days, storytelling, and local events.
Standards & safety: promote Responsible Trail Use and accessibility where feasible.
